The Ultimate Denali Itinerary

It’s the first leg of your trip. Hop on the famous Alaska Railroad to travel from Anchorage to Denali. The picturesque journey is approximately seven hours on the Denali Star train. When you arrive, explore and spend the night at the peaceful and cozy Denali Cabins.

It’s time to head to Denali Backcountry Lodge, where you’ll experience remote wilderness like never before. Just like the experience, the transportation is equally unique. Catch a helicopter ride and soar over Denali National Park for 35 minutes before arriving at your new accommodations – the best creature comforts in one of the world’s wildest landscapes.

After a good (and quiet) night’s sleep, you have a whole day to explore the backcountry. Spend time with the lodge’s Naturalist Guides who can take you on any outdoor wilderness tour you want – from casual beginner hikes to more challenging treks for experienced hikers.  Spend another evening at the Denali Backcountry Lodge.

Today, you might want to head out on another adventure – like more hiking, biking, fishing or even gold panning (the lodge is situated near the historic Kantishna, a former gold mining camp). Or, if you’re feeling a little sore from yesterday’s exercise, stop by the Nest Spa and Wellness Center for a massage. Enjoy your last night in the backcountry!

You’ll get one more incredible view of the park as you take a helicopter back to the park entrance. Soak it in! You’re back at Denali Cabins tonight to sleep before your next adventure.
