DAY 1: Welcome to Alaska!

As you arrive in Fairbanks, take a minute to drink it all in and relax before your journey begins. Overnight at a partner hotel.

DAY 2: Celebrate the past

Explore Fairbanks your way on the first full day in “The Last Frontier.” You may decide to climb on board the Riverboat Discovery or join the Gold Dredge 8 tour on the Chena River before returning to your hotel to rest and prepare for the next day’s adventures.

DAY 3: Arrive at Denali's doorstep

Take the train from Fairbanks to Denali Cabins, just minutes from Denali National Park. Get your first glimpses of the region’s legendary landscapes as you settle into a cozy, private cabin, where you’ll stay for the next three evenings.

DAY 4: Venture into northern wilderness

Discover the wonders of Denali with two full days at leisure. Do you venture into the park? Go on a breathtaking flightseeing excursion? Or explore some of its network of hiking trails? The day is yours. Overnight at Denali Cabins to spend another relaxing evening.

DAY 5: Discover more in Denali

Choose your own adventure in and around Denali! Other optional activities include rafting, ziplining, and ATVing. It’s also a perfect day to explore the national park before leaving tomorrow. There’s no shortage of sights to take in at your own pace. Overnight one last time at Denali Cabins.

DAY 6: Uncharted territory, undisturbed wildlife

Pack up and say farewell to your cozy cabin basecamp before riding the Alaska Railroad to the quaint climbers’ town of Talkeetna. Overnight at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

DAY 7: Crash through rivers, soar over glaciers

Explore Talkeetna, perhaps through an adventurous flightseeing tour or jet boat ride on a glacier-fed river. Then, enjoy a hearty meal at Homestead Kitchen before you continue to Anchorage.

DAY 8: Take a scenic drive on the Seward Highway

Travel from Anchorage to Seward and enjoy one of the most scenic drives in North America. Hug the shores of the Turnagain Arm as you watch for belugas, Dall sheep and, if the timing’s right, the famed bore tide. Then, kick back with a night at the beautiful Windsong Lodge.

DAY 9: A stunning blend of fjords and wildlife

Embark on a Kenai Fjords Tour on Resurrection Bay and take in spectacular sea life and scenery. You’ll stop and overnight at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge on the remote Fox Island. Activities include exploring the pebbled beaches with a park ranger and learning to prepare fresh salmon with our executive chef.

DAY 10: An unforgettable getaway

Get up close and personal with puffins, sea lions and towering coastal cliffs as you glide through the protected waters of Resurrection Bay on a guided sea kayak trip.

DAY 11: From the waters to the rails

Bask in the natural sights and sounds of a six-hour glacier and wildlife cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park. Then, kick back and relax as you travel with Alaska Railroad to Anchorage.

DAY 12: Experience Alaska city life

Explore Anchorage before you head home. Spend the day shopping for keepsakes, or just relaxing in your hotel. If you’re still in the mood for adventure, you can also add a bear viewing tour to the itinerary for one last thrill.

DAY 13: Look back in Anchorage

Reflect on the journey you’ve experienced. On rails, roads, sea and land, you’ve seen Alaska’s best on a trip that will forever be part of your story.
