Board the Alaska Railroad and travel through a winter wonderland on the Aurora Winter Train. The trip takes you to the former trading post of Talkeetna. You’ll stay at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, where you’ll take in breathtaking views of Denali from the viewing deck. After a gorgeous Alaska sunset enjoy dinner in the Basecamp Bistro. Overnight at the Lodge.

Start your day well rested, followed by coffee in front of the huge river rock fireplace. It’s the perfect way to prepare for your flightseeing tour around Denali. Then take the shuttle into town and wander through Talkeetna’s unique shops. Tuck in for another night at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

This morning, the Alaska Railroad’s Aurora Winter Train plows farther north, taking you through the depths of a pristine winter to the city of Fairbanks. In Alaska’s second largest city you check into a hotel hand-picked for comfort and convenience. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Leaving Fairbanks, your group and guide begin a two-day driving expedition to the far north. Traveling the spectacular Dalton Highway, you cross the Arctic Circle and drive through the rural community of Joy. You’ll learn about the mighty Yukon River before reaching Coldfoot, where your group spends the night.

Your second day above the Arctic Circle offers more winter wilderness adventure, with optional flightseeing or hiking tours. Then back to Coldfoot for the night under stars and Northern Lights.

Today is the last leg of your Northern Alaska journey. On the flight from Coldfoot to Fairbanks you’ll have ample opportunity to experience the stark beauty of winter in this amazing state. And if you’re not quite ready to go home, ask one of our Alaska experts about adding a side trip.
