Katmai National Park Bear Viewing

From Anchorage, take a scenic flight to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park for a spectacular bear-viewing adventure. Three bear-viewing platforms connected by raised boardwalks allow for close, unobstructed and extraordinary viewing of bears in the Brooks River. Lured by spawning salmon, as many as fifty bears can be seen at once during peak viewing in July. Katmai National Park Rangers provide an initial briefing upon arrival, and are available throughout the Park to answer questions during this self-guided portion of the tour.

Departing from Lake Hood in Anchorage, the flight to Katmai National Park includes views of Cook Inlet, the Alaska Range, remote islands, before landing in Katmai National Park.

Getting Here

In Anchorage, go west on International Airport Road West. Take the North Terminal exit at Postmark Drive, then take the first right onto Heliport (a very short road-- follow the signs for the Alaska Aviation Museum).
